Living in Frazier Park is great. Along with fresh mountain air, warm and sunny summers and cold crisp winters, hiking trails with ever-changing foliage, health-conscious locals are fortunate enough to have their own little health food store.
Health Food Haven, located in the heart of town at 3408 Mt. Pinos Way, offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which fits right in with the Frazier Park way of life. There is a treasure trove of products designed to promote good health: vitamins, supplements, herbs, and diet aids as well as many interesting foods.
Whether the preference is lo-carb or lo-fat, patrons will be able to get what they need. There are medicinal teas that help a variety of ailments, everything from a sore throat to an upset stomach.
It's also a great place to buy organic eggs, butter and milk. Some enjoy just perusing the shelves and checking out the variety of products.
When I moved To Frazier Park," said Gloria Dreice, a newcomer to the community, "I was so happy to be in this beautiful mountain community, but I was a little concerned that I would have to drive into the city to get my supplements and good food to maintain my lifestyle.
"I was so pleased to find this lovely little store with a huge array of any type of vitamin and supplement that I could possibly want."
Health Food Haven is even staffed by friendly people who love to discuss health concerns.
"I enjoy my job," said Jennifer Johnston, an employee at the store, "because I meet so many people and I learn a lot from the feedback that I get from our customers. They seem to get a lot of benefits from our products and they are impressed by the large variety of food and vitamins in the store." Using a unique computer program, the staff will research products that might be of help in a customer's particular situation.
They will even print out the information so that the customer may take it and study it at their leisure.
This is personalized attention that the `big city' establishments simply don't offer, Johnston said. Another great service is, if they don't carry a product that a customer needs, they order it so that, in most cases, there is no need to even leave the hill.
